Has anyone else just gone on their first apple-picking excursion ever? Yes, this grown-up just went apple-picking for the very first time in her life!

When Pritom suggested visiting an orchard outside the city for a shoot, I was so excited I immediately ran upstairs and threw on this outfit. Ok, let’s be real now. Throwing on suede boots to go apple-picking is probably one of the least practical ideas, but I couldn’t help it. I’d been wanting to wear this outfit forever (remember: putting outfits together are the only reason I like the cold…well, that and Christmas), and felt that this shoot would be the perfect opportunity to do so!

Over-the-knee boots have been in style for a few years now, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be going away anytime soon. This is great news because not only is this style incredibly chic, it keeps those always-cold legs of mine warm. Cost-per-wear is often a topic of discussion I have with Pritom, and if I were to pick something in my collection that gets an amazing cost-per-wear, it’d be my Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots. I admit they’re not the most inexpensive shoes, but trust me when I say I can wear them with practically everything in my closet! I love that I can style them with shorts, rompers, short dresses and skirts during the transitional months. And of course, I love being able to wear them over tights, leggings and jeans on those brutally cold winter days. If you think about it, that means I can pretty much wear them nine out of twelve months of the year! Also, these are easily the most comfortable pair of boots I own, so I can walk all day long in them – and I’ve done just that on numerous occasions – but I’d be lying if I told you I wasn’t worried about getting them dirty the entire time I was at the orchard! The only thing that kept my mind off of that was the apple-picking process itself. If you have never gone apple-picking, you NEED to do it. It was so much fun! I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been a city girl all my life and that’s why I’m easily fascinated with life in the country, or if there’s just something about picking your produce directly from its source! Either way, I can’t wait to do it again! I went there excited about my shoot, and left with not just a bunch of pictures, but also with 10 pounds of apples and the most relaxed feeling yet! On a different note, if you own a pair of suede boots, invest in a suede cleaning kit! I’m so glad I did because I did get these boots dirty, but the dirt came right off after I cleaned them!

Moto jackets are all the rage these days, so you can probably find one rather easily. I purchased mine from Joe Fresh two years ago, so it’s no longer available. However, if you’re looking for a textured one like this, check out these similar pieces at Saks and Styles for Less. I wore full-length sleeves under my jacket for this shoot because I loved how the scalloped detailing of my three-quarter length jacket sleeves stood out against the shirt. This shirt is the only thing I ever bought from a hotel (Paris in Vegas, to be exact) because that was how much I needed it in my life. It’s made of this beautiful sheer, textured cotton-polyester blend and has a sketch of the hotel, but you could really replicate this look with just about any long-sleeved shirt – textured or not. Playing with layers is such a great way to add dimension to an outfit! And finally, this handbag is on major sale right now, so get your paws on it while it’s still available!

Anyway, I’m getting ready to hit the sack. I hope everyone’s having a fabulous week!
